1.What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before? Quite a few things, actually. I started this blog, for one. I also joined the Society of Janus and began attending workshops and even my very first play party.
2.Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I honestly can’t remember my new years’ resolutions from last year, and I haven’t yet made mine for this upcoming year. I want to come up with some small ones that will help me form good habits, rather than things that will only last a couple of weeks.
3.Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin gave birth back in the spring, and my sister-in-law is set to have her first this upcoming summer. I’m going to be an aunt!
4.Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank goodness.
5.What countries did you visit?
6.What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
More self-confidence and self esteem. I’m getting there slowly, but I want to keep working towards being self-assured and assertive in what I do and what I say.
7.What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? I wouldn’t say there’s one exact date, but many memories that won’t fade for quite a while.
8.What was your biggest achievement of the year? I grew a lot in my RA position, and I finally figured out what I want to do after college. Gaining that self-assurance was a huge step for me, and allowed me to apply to graduate school instead of taking a year off as originally planned.
9.What was your biggest failure? I think I failed this year to realize how much work still needs to be done in my life, in my relationships, in the way I treat other people. I overestimated, in some ways, how far I’ve come. There’s still much more to do.
10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not particularly; in fact, I didn’t even get my usual pre-finals cold and flu that usually rolls around.
11.What was the best thing you bought? I honestly couldn’t pick out one particular item. Perhaps my latest pair of shoes? They’re the most comfortable ones I’ve owned in a few years.
12.Whose behavior merited celebration? M. He worked through a lot of things with me this year and was extremely patient when I was the most stressed. He’s contributed so positively to our relationship that it almost puts me to shame.
13.Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? My mother. This year was extremely hard for my family since my dad is still out of a job and we were still trying to sell the old house. Mum just keeps getting more bitter, more angry, and her treatment of my father has gotten worse still. She needs counseling, but she can’t afford it (and even if she could, she’s stubborn as hell).
14.Where did most of your money go?
College, mostly. Books, food, and leisurely things like dates in the city and such.
15.What events did you get really, really, really excited about? My first play party. Going to Monterey Bay this summer. My 21st birthday. Northern RAP (a conference I attended).
16.What song will always remind you of 2010? “Already Gone” by Kelly Clarkson is one of the many.
17.Compared to this time last year, are you:
i.happier or sadder? Happier.
ii.thinner or fatter? Probably slightly fatter. I’ve gained weight and I’m still not sure if that’s a good or bad thing.
iii.richer or poorer? Definitely poorer.
18.What do you wish you’d done more of?
Gone out and had fun.
19.What do you wish you’d done less of?
Stress out about my future.
20.How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent Christmas in NYC with my brother, sister-in-law, and my parents.
21.Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
Probably my parents. I call them almost every chance I get, just to chat.
22.Did you fall in love in 2010?
Hell yes I did. <3
23. How many one-night stands?
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Ooh, hard to choose; I’ll have to go with Doctor Who.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? No, though I lost touch with quite a few people simply because of the distance. I’m only ‘home’ once a year, after all.
26. What was the best book you read?
You know, I really didn’t get to read as much this year as I would have liked. Even so, my favourite was probably A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon. It’s the latest book in her series so far.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery or rediscovery? Boyce Avenue. I love their covers!! I also fell in love with Sara Bareilles.
28. What did you want and get?
I wanted to figure out what I wanted to do after college, and I did! Thank goodness.
29. What did you want and not get?
I wanted a promotion
30. What were your favorite films of this year?
Inception, Toy Story 3, and Harry Potter. I also finally saw Gladiator, which is admittedly quite old but also amazing.
31.What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
This is always hard to answer because Jan 2nd is my birthday. I usually remember the most recent one, and not the one from the past year. I do know that M was visiting, and we probably went out to dinner with my family. 20 wasn’t all that exciting. 21 however….well, I went do dinner with M and my family and had a drink. Haha!
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Less stress, drama, and annoyance at being a Resident Assistant. I just get so annoyed with rude and irresponsible freshman.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
My fashion concept is constantly changing and mixing. This year was a lot of skinny jeans and boots, a bit of kink mixed in with the everyday. Corsets over t-shirts, just enough black, and a few sundresses.
34. What kept you sane?
M, movies, and having friends who didn’t live in the dorms.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most/least?
I wasn’t really paying attention this year.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Prop 8. I’ve been angry with the world ever since it passed the first time. I’m also having a difficult time grasping why the Dream Act hasn’t passed yet…seriously, people?
37. Whom did you miss?
My family. It’s really hard only being home once a year.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I’ve become close to quite a few of the new RAs on our staff this year; they’re by far the best new people I’ve met.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010: I learned that there’s a fine line between self-confidence and arrogance, and I haven’t found it yet.
40. Do you have any lost feelings of others.
I’m not really sure what this means.
41.Quote a song that sums up your year: Forget quotes, here it is.
