Review: Sportsheets Pleasure Feather

As someone who usually leans towards heavier play, I don’t own a lot of toys for teasing and light sensation. When I saw that EdenFantasys had the new Sportsheets Pleasure Feather up for review, I immediately requested it in Violet.

The pleasure feather arrived in a typical EdenFantasys box not with any particular packaging, but with a large Sportsheets tag attached to the wrist trap. The tag features the head and shoulders of a man and woman in a sexy scene, which fades out to a title and some “sexy hints on inside –>”. Inside, the tag features a few ideas for play such as “naughty housekeeper”, “connect the dots”, and “tender genders”. I wasn’t terribly impressed with the suggestions, but I didn’t have high expectations anyway. Playing housekeeper with such a small item just sounds comedic, and I’m not sure I would want to get my feather wet by “stroking whichever areas are [my] most sensitive”. “Connect the dots”, a sort of word/shape guessing game, would be fun but not terribly feasible since this toy has such a large surface area.

This brings us to the toy itself! The pleasure feather is constructed from about fourteen long feathers and a bunch of tiny boa-type feathers closer to the base. Nowhere in the packaging did it say what type of feathers these were, but they look real enough. All of the feathers were purple; the short feathers are a bright violet while the longer feathers have a green iridescent sheen to them on top of deep violet. I really like how much depth the colours have. All of these feathers are securely attached to a small bullet (gun-bullet not sex-bullet) sized base that I assume is made out of plastic or PVC. It’s shiny and slightly flexible. This base attaches to an elastic wrist-strap which I only found useful for hanging the feather in my closet. Otherwise, I felt like a tourist trying to hold onto my camera (ie. very awkward).

In terms of sensation, the pleasure feather is wonderful. It took a little getting used to for me since I typically do heavier play, but the feathers felt soft against my skin and tickled something terrible in the small of my back and on my waist. My next plan is to have M use this feather on me while I’m tied up and blindfolded so that I can focus even more on the sensation. I would definitely say this toy would be fun for vanilla-to-kinky folks alike as it could easily be incorporated into any kind of play, cuddling, or massage.

The construction has held up really well so far. I bent the feathers backward, pulled at them, and wafted my pleasure feather around in circles and only a few of the tiny boa-type feathers fell out. Other feathers in the room must have been getting jealous, however, as at least three came out of my duvet while I was sitting in bed typing this review. My only complaint about the pleasure feather is that I would have preferred a small handle, perhaps three inches long, in place of the six-inch wrist strap.
