Why Do I Do What I Do?

This is a guest post by the wonderful Teagan Shepard. Here she talks about her sex-ed philosophy and how she became a sex blogger herself. Please visit her at her own site as well!

I didn’t have a very sex-positive sex education growing up. I didn’t have much sex education, period, until I went off to college. I didn’t go buck wild, but instead, found ways to educate myself on what I was “missing out on,” according to my newfound friends.

The funny thing was this: not all my new friends were as educated as it might seem. “You can’t get pregnant if you’re on top.” “You pee and bleed out of the same hole.” Are you serious? No! No, no, no, no, no! Just absolutely no! Where did you get this information?

Well, nobody knows where the information came from, it’s just what they know. And I’m setting out to help change the education. What I learned I learned from the internet. And if it takes using the internet to get some correct information out to people who are in the same situation, then that’s what I’ll do.

I started wanting to write a long time ago, but I didn’t know how to go about it. About a year and a half ago I birthed myself a new name, a new persona. I did this while working with a small home-party company here writing reviews for it. I started penning thoughts on relationships and dabbled in short erotica, but not necessarily publishing the articles as I didn’t know how it would go over in the online community.

Fast forward to two months ago. I connected with @ABedroomBlogger on twitter. I loved how open she was with her writing. I eased in (with my real name) and read around in her network of bloggy-friends. After reading for a while, I asked her how she got into reviewing. And then I knew, “This is what I need to do. I can get up in the blog ranks doing the reviews, and spill my heart and knowledge at the same time.”

Then, I read around at Mistress Kay’s website on how to go about getting into review programs. I started reviewing what I had while emailing back and forth with various companies. It took a bit to get going, but, here I am. Still blogging, still reviewing, still loving it!

I think I’m pretty blessed to be able to share my mission with you guys and dolls. Thanks for being accepting of me and my writing despite my views and persuasions. I couldn’t ask for a better set of “friends.”
